BRAZIL MUDSLIDES KILL AT LEAST 37 !

Most of the deaths have been in shantytowns in hilly areas. Mudslides in southern Brazil have killed at least 37 people and made thousands homeless after several days of heavy rain, officials say.
Most of the deaths were in mountainous areas of Rio de Janeiro state, where shantytown dwellings were swept away by torrents of mud.
A state of emergency has been declared in several areas and the federal government has promised aid.
More heavy rain has been forecast for the region for the rest of the week.
Tens of thousands of people across several Brazilian states have been forced from their homes by the mudslides and are taking shelter in schools and churches.
The governor of Rio state, Sergio Cabral, flew in a helicopter over the hardest-hit region north of Rio de Janeiro city and met with local officials.
