SCOTLAND AWAITS 2014 GAMES RESULT!

Commonwealth associations will decide on Glasgow's fate. Scotland is waiting to find out if its bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games has been successful. Glasgow and Abuja in Nigeria have a final opportunity to win votes during a 30-minute presentation on Friday.
All 71 Commonwealth member countries will then vote at 1230 GMT in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the result announced a short time later.
Bid director Derek Casey said the road to Sri Lanka had been an "incredible journey" around the Commonwealth.
"We are in the very last lap of the race and racing towards the finish line," he said.

VOTING PROCESS

Glasgow will begin its 30-minute presentation at 1100 GMT, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session
Abuja will then make its presentation and take questions
The announcement is expected at about 1245 GMT.

"We are determined to leave nothing to chance and to bring home the gold medal for Glasgow and for Scotland." Speaking on the BBC's Good Morning Scotland programme, First Minister Alex Salmond said: "I think we have got the votes we require to win this.
"This is a really stiff competition. This has never ever been a walkover. It is a highly valued prize."
Mr Salmond said that the emotional appeal of a bid from Africa was "substantial".
He said that the Glasgow team had to appeal to the "head and the heart" of the decision makers.
"The head because technically our bid is superb and the heart to tap into the fund of goodwill which exists towards Scotland right across the Commonwealth," Mr Salmond said.
General Yakubu Gowon, who is leading the Abuja bid, said: "It is going to be a very fair fight and we will give it our best shot."

Scotland and Nigeria are competing for votes.
A majority of 36 is needed to secure the games.
The delegates will take part in a secret vote, marking their choice on a ballot paper.
The votes will then be counted and the result will be placed in an envelope.
Mike Fennell, president of the Commonwealth Games Federation, will open the envelope and announce the winning city.
The announcement will be broadcast by BBC Scotland on television, radio and online.
In Glasgow, the announcement will be broadcast on large screens at The Fruitmarket and at some of the sports venues where the 2014 games would be held.
