It is 10 years since Posh and Becks sat on those thrones during their fairytale wedding at a castle in Ireland.

She is a former Spice Girl, now best known for her pout; he is a footballer not afraid to experiment with hairstyles and tattoos.

Together, David and Victoria Beckham are arguably the UK's most famous couple.

"They've been very clever with their marketing, and their branding has been very well thought out," says Phil Gould, assistant editor of OK! magazine.

With an estimated fortune of £125 million and ranking at 426th on the Sunday Times Rich List, Brand Beckham is a reliable money-spinner for the couple.

"They still sell very well and our readers are fascinated by their lives," Mr Gould says.

In fact, it was the Beckhams wedding on 4 July 1999 - for which they reportedly received £1 million - that started the celebrity wedding bidding wars we so often hear about today.

"It was the thing that everybody was talking about, and for the magazine, it was one of the first things we did. It got everybody talking about us," Mr Gould adds.

He says the photos of their wedding remain the third best-selling issue in the magazine's history.

Only the recent wedding of the late reality TV star Jade Goody, and the Katie Price/Peter Andre nuptials, outsold the Beckhams.

Over the past decade the Beckhams have worked their way up the celebrity ladder.

When they moved to Los Angeles in 2007, the pair were welcomed into the LA glitterati and were regularly photographed with Tom Cruise, his wife Katie Holmes, and Jennifer Lopez.

However, the state of their marriage has often been a cause for speculation, leaving some asking whether the united smiles in front of the camera are just a front.

"I think a lot of people think the reason they stay together is for the money and the power that kind of couple brings.

"But there is more to it than that, there is a deep love there," says former Heat magazine editor Mark Frith.

Frith, who has met both of them, has written about his encounters in his book, The Celeb Diaries.

"They're not together just to keep this brand going. They have all the money in the world anyway and the fame isn't ever going to be a problem for them."

When asked if he thinks it is likely Posh and Becks will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, he says it is a certainty.

"I'd put money on it. I think we can take it for granted that David and Victoria Beckham could possibly be together for ever."

But if it did all end tomorrow - would Brand Beckham still bring in the bucks?

Although Victoria remains the only Spice Girl not to have secured a number one solo single under her Gucci belt, her newly chosen career in fashion seems to be going well.

"The next progressive step for her was to launch her own catwalk label, which she's done very slowly, very carefully," says fashion designer Scott Henshall.

"I think it's very important that she didn't do this in the UK. She's shown this in New York - which automatically makes us Brits think she's even more fabulous."

According to him, the incredible success the pair have had as a couple is all down to Mrs Beckham.

"It's Victoria who is constantly pushing forward onto the global stage. I think the Spice Girls is almost a footnote now for her.

"Victoria's world stage is the red carpet."

He describes her as a "true icon" and says a lot of people would be surprised at how funny she is.

"She's very down-to-earth and she has a very dry sense of humour. I think she just wants to belong, I think she just wants to be accepted."

It seems David - or Goldenballs as Victoria likes to call him - has never had much of a problem being accepted within his profession.

"It's amazing how he can walk around in a sarong, a pair of pants or two ponytails, and it doesn't seem to have affected him a jot in terms of the way he's perceived within the sports world," says sports broadcaster Mark Webster.

"On a football field he expresses himself beautifully.

"It's an amazing achievement that David Beckham's come up with. He's kind of like the first guy to really nail it in in terms of football and everything else.

"He has taken it to a completely different level."
