OJ SIMPSON 'VIOLATED BAIL TERMS' !

US ex-football star OJ Simpson is back in custody on a charge of violating the bail terms set for his armed robbery trial in Las Vegas, US media report. He was reportedly detained by his bail bondsman in Florida at the request of a district attorney and faces a hearing in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Mr Simpson was arrested in September on armed robbery and kidnapping charges.

He made headlines in 1995 when he was cleared of murdering his ex-wife Nicole and her friend Ron Goldman. "We understand he's in the custody of his bail bondsman in Florida right now, and will be brought to Las Vegas for the hearing," said Elana Pitaro, a district court clerk in the city.

Mr Simpson was freed on 19 September on bail of $125,000 (£63,000) following his arrest on allegations that he and several friends burst into a city hotel room and robbed two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint. His bail terms include bans on contacting potential witnesses and leaving the mainland US.

There were no immediate details of the alleged bail violation in Florida. Some US media are reporting the detainee is already on his way back to Nevada in the custody of his bondsman. In November, Mr Simpson pleaded not guilty to the kidnapping and armed robbery charges against him. His legal team say he was trying to retrieve stolen memorabilia that belonged to him and deny any guns were involved.

Although Mr Simpson was cleared of murder back in 1995, he was later found liable for the two deaths at a civil trial and ordered to pay $33.5m (£17m) in damages - money that has never been collected.
